College Liaison For Wilson Early College Academy

Type of Position: Full-time

Hiring Range: $40,250-$44,000 Based on experience

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Vice President of Instruction and Student Development, the College Liaison fosters the development of positive relationships between the College and Wilson Early College Academy by bridging the gap and keeping communication lines open.

Essential Duties: Assists in developing five-year plans of study combining secondary and postsecondary coursework to ensure the attainment of an associates degree or two years of transferable college credit. Works with secondary and postsecondary staff to ensure coordination of high school and college schedules that allow availability of required courses. Facilitates curriculum planning between secondary and postsecondary subject areas to reduce redundancy and maximize collaboration. Assists in development of the Wilson Early College Academy Student Handbook with pertinent college information. Participates in activities to promote Wilson Early College Academy to parents, potential students and the community. Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the placement of students into postsecondary courses. Participates in conflict resolution involving students, faculty, or staff of both institutions, as needed. Sends college progress reports three times each semester to college instructors requesting grade range and additional comments. Coordinates Wilson Early College Academy student involvement in college activities and clubs. Conducts Degree Audits for college curricula to ensure students are meeting requirements to graduate. Arranges use of college facilities for the Wilson Early College Academy (auditoriums/classrooms/equipment for special meetings/events). Serves on institutional committees if appointed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of College policies and requirements for admission and of curriculums and instructional programs. Knowledge of high school graduation requirements. Knowledge of curriculum standards and programs of study. Knowledge of College policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to operate a PC and related software. Ability to administer standardized tests and interpret results.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in education, counseling, or closely related field required. Three years experience working in a high school or community college required.
