Adult Secondary Education Coordinator

Type of Position: Full-time

Hiring Range: $40,250-$45,000 Based on experience

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Continuing Education, the Adult Secondary Education Coordinator is responsible for managing program duties in the development, organization, and teaching of courses to meet student needs.

Essential Duties: Administers and scores a variety of educational assessment instruments. Provides disciplinary measures and student counseling in order to maintain a conducive learning environment. Assists instructors with lesson plans, course outlines, and records. Meets with individual students to help plan their course of study. Compiles various reports and processes necessary forms and planning documents to support program efforts. Works closely with Director on hiring of instructors and scheduling of courses. Assists with registration of classes. Performs class audits. Provides student program and contact hours to various public agencies. Develops, monitors and compiles evaluation of courses and workshops. Serves on institutional committees as appointed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge and abilities include: principles and practices of PCs; course design and organization; lesson plans and teaching methods; needs assessments and evaluation of course activities; adult education theories and practices; ability to supervise; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; maintain effective working relationships with other people; organize, plan and administer a variety of courses, workshops, and activities.

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Education or in a related field required. Three (3) to five (5) years literacy/adult education teaching experience required. Supervisory experience required.
