All extracurricular activities sponsored by the College have an assigned staff advisor. The purpose of such activities is to promote student professional growth, individual and school pride, and student morale. One hour per week, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon on Thursday, is reserved for these activities.
Care is taken to ensure that extracurricular activities do not interfere with the educational process. Students wishing to organize additional activities shall make application to the SGA President according to the Student Government Association Constitution, which is included in the Student Handbook, stating the purpose and objective of such activities.

Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) is the most active organization at the College. Its purpose is to develop student leadership, promote the morale of the student body, and to provide a means for a close working relationship between students and college personnel. Through the SGA, each student has a voice in college affairs.
The structure of the SGA includes the president, vice-president, secretary/treasurer, and parliamentarian/sergeant-at-arms. A first-year and a second-year student represent each degree curriculum. Each diploma curriculum has a representative. Elections for the offices of president and secretary/treasurer are held during the Spring Semester; elections for offices of vice-president and parliamentarian/sergeant-at-arms are held during Fall Semester.
Most student activities take place during the 11 a.m. - 12 noon activity hour each Thursday. Activities sponsored by the SGA may include a Fall Semester Field Day, contests, Black History Month Observance, and Spring Semester Picnic. Other activities will be provided as needed subject to adequate funding in the SGA's budget. Curriculum groups are encouraged to have activities through the SGA's Curriculum Assistance Program (CAP)
The Dean of Student Service or his/her designee serves as the SGA advisor, and the Recruiter/Student Activities Officer serves as Director of Student Activities.
Honor Societies
There are two honor societies on campus, The National Vocational Technical Honor Society for students in diploma programs, and Phi Theta Kappa for students in associate degree programs. Membership eligibility is based on the number of hours completed in one's program, grade point average (3.5 or better), current enrollment, and the unanimous recommendation of the faculty. Invitations are extended each semester to those who meet the eligibility requirements.Student Organizations
Students are encouraged to form new organizations and clubs as their interests dictate. The College's Student Activities Committee assists students by providing faculty advisors to clubs.
Code of Conduct for Students/Student Organizations
Students are expected to conduct themselves on and off campus in a socially acceptable manner. Profanity is not allowed on campus. Functions or activities sponsored by Wilson Community College student organizations off campus will be held in accordance with state and local laws. Individuals in violation of these are subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Due Process in Disciplinary Procedures Policy. Organizations in violation are subject to revocation of charter.Questions regarding appropriateness of activities should be directed to the Student Activities Committee. Examples of typical activities that are encouraged are as follows: those of a professional development or educational nature; those of a charitable or philanthropic nature; social events; and community improvement projects.
