General Education Development (GED) is a program of instruction designed to prepare adult students to take the GED writing skills, science, social studies, reading, and math tests. Students must earn a minimum of 410 points per test for a total minimum score of 2,250 points to earn a State Board of Community College High School Diploma Equivalency. Successful completion of the Practice GED is strongly recommended before taking the official GED tests. There is no required fee to take the Practice GED tests.
Instruction in GED prepares for the five-area test and includes writing skills, social studies, science, literature and the arts, and math.
Adults 18 and over (or sixteen- and seventeen-year olds with the proper release forms from the public school and parents) may enroll.
Study is individualized, and no specific time limit is set. Successful completion of the Pre-GED is strongly recommended before taking the official GED test. Students will complete the GED program once a total score of 2250 is obtained in the five-area GED test.
You may study for the GED at Wilson Community College, at off-site locations (Wilson OIC, Hope Station, Employment Security Commission) or online with the online preparation studies.
