Refunds

For Occupational Extension classes, a 100% refund shall be made if the student withdraws prior to the first class meeting. A 75% refund shall be made if the student withdraws from the class prior to the official 10% point of the class. Requests for refunds must be made by completing a Continuing Education course withdrawl form prior to the 10% point of the class. Forms are available in the Continuing Education office (B-105). No refunds are granted for Community Service and Self-Supporting courses once the classes have started. For classes canceled by the College, a full refund shall be made. You do not have to request a refund in these cases. Please allow 3 - 5 weeks for processing refunds. Requests for refunds must be made by completing a Continuing Education course withdrawal form. No refunds shall be made after the 10% point of the class.

Course Repeats

A student enrolling in the same Occupational Extension course more than twice within a five-year period will pay the full student cost. Details of these charges are available in the Continuing Education Office. This provision is waived if course repetition is required by certification or licensing standards.

Cancellations

A course may be canceled if fewer than 10 enroll.

Occupational Extension

Registration fees charged for community college continuing education courses have increased. Registration fees for courses beginning on or after August 15, 2009 are as follows:

*Occupational Extension students will be charged a $5.00 technology fee per semester for courses consisting of 9 or more hours.

Community Service/Self-Supporting Courses

Community Service/Self-Supporting Fees are based on the cost of offering the course. All students must pay. Student pays a pro-rata share of the cost of instruction. Each fee is shown with course listing. There are no fee exemptions.

Continuing Education

Continuing Education students taking on-campus classes will be charged a $12.00 security/parking fee per semester.

EMT/EMS, Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy and Pharmacy Technician

Accident and Malpractice Insurance is required for EMT/EMS, Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy and Pharmacy Technician students. Insurance is optional for all other Continuing Education students and may be purchased at the Cashier window.

Note: Tuition shall be waived for up to 96 contact hours of non-credit instruction per academic semester for senior citizens age 65 or olderwho are qualified as legal residents of North Carolina.
