Curriculum Allied Health/Sciences

Wilson Community College and Wilson Medical Center have come together in a joint collaborative project that is partially funded by the Golden Leaf Foundation. This facility has been designed using state-of-the-art high fidelity simulation equipment and furnishings to mimic the patient care areas of Wilson Medical Center. The initial purpose will be to train all students in the Allied Health programs at Wilson Community College to provide simulated care in a safe environment using case studies where the faculty control the simulated patient's responses to the care provided by the student. The students and faculty will then be able to view the scenario and determine what could have been done differently. The end goal will be to allow the student to have a seamless transition from student to employee.

The next step in the collaborative project will be to integrate the high fidelity simulations into the Wilson Medical Center training programs based upon hospital education and training needs. With eventual availability to local agencies and other schools of nursing.
