How Do I Register for a Distance Learning Course?

Registration for distance learning courses follows the same procedures as traditional classes.  Check the course listings on the following pages for times and dates.  Each distance learning course is equivalent to the on-campus section of the same course in terms of objectives, contact, rigor, and transferability.  Distance learning courses are also approved for tuition assistance.

Orientation

All distance learning students must completed the required orientation session(s) required for the course(s) in which students are enrolled.  Please note that for Internet (NET) courses, ORIENTATION only occurs online.

Children Not Allowed on Campus

According to our policy in the Student Handbook, children are not allowed to accompany a parent or other student to any on-campus academic activity, including class, laboratory, the College Library, or orientation session other than when the general public has been invited. Children many not be left unattended at any time on the College campus. If a student brings a child to class, the instructor should inform the student of the College’s policy and ask him/her to remove the child from the classroom. If a child is left unattended, the Dean of Student Development should be notified. The Dean will then locate the parent and inform him/her of the policy. The College assumes no liability for injuries incurred by minors on campus.

Never Attended Student (NA) and Attendance

If you are dropped from a course for never attending (NA) or for attendance reasons, you are still responsible for tuition and fees whether or not your tuition and fees were self-paid, paid by PELL, or paid by a third party.  Students may receive a 100% refund, if requested, for classes officially withdrawn from before January 5, 2012, or if the class is canceled.  Students may officially withdraw from a class or classes through January 17, 2012, and receive a 75% refund, if requested. Please refer to the Official Withdrawal Policy in the Wilson Community College Catalog for detailed guidelines.
