Wilson Community College Activities

• Discussions with faculty and staff on how to incorporate sustainability into courses and programs (credit and non credit)
  • Basic Skills Programs
  • Developmental Reading
  • English Composition
  • Psychology
  • Biology
• Development of workforce training courses in commercial and residential Green Building
  • Partnership with University of Florida, GreenAdvantage.org
  • Seat based and online instruction in commercial and residential green building courseware to be available to national community colleges
  • Lead instructors members of USGBC
  • Partnering with Green Advantage to establish community colleges as testing centers for GA certification exam
  • Developing courseware into Spanish language
  • Exploring the use of Green Building training materials to provide CEUs for HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing Trades, Real Estate, Appraisers, Assessors, Commissioning Agents
• Sustainability included in Electrical, Automotive, Diesel, Heavy Equipment  Operation
  vocational training courses.
• Exploring development of renewable energy technician training courses for the installation,
  maintenance, and repair of renewable technologies.

Your Dimensions Activity

We want to know what you are doing, planning, or even just thinking about when it comes to sustainability. Are you teaching the concept of sustainability in your class? Are you purchasing green products? Have you or your students thought about your recycling behaviors since we installed recycling centers across campus? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are thinking sustainably. Sustainability is about sharing and our sustainable efforts should be visible to others and serve as a model of what it means to be sustainable. We want to know what you are doing in sustainability and invite you to submit your sustainable activities.
