Job Description: Instructor for primarily Firefighter Level 1 & 2 Certification for night and weekend program delivery. Hours are on an as needed basis and seeking consistent instructors for weekly needs. Training will be delivered at training locations that include various fire departments in Wilson County, fire training centers, and college campus.
Qualifications: Must be Instructor Level II through the NC Fire Rescue Commission with qualifications in firefighter level 1 & 2 and test proctor.

Job Description: Under the direction of the Controller, performs technical and specialized governmental accounting work processing and maintaining the payroll for the College; maintains related longevity, deferred compensation, and other records.

Essential Duties: Prepares and processes full-time and part-time payrolls – including inputting data, salary adjustments, direct deposit information, transmitting direct deposits, and other payroll information as needed. Creates and maintains payroll spreadsheets for all full-time and part-time college personnel as a reconciliation tool to the Colleague payroll system that includes salaries, longevity, overload pay, and for any other pay adjustments that may be needed. Responsible for full-time and part-time payrolls – including contract data entry and the completion of payroll process in its entirety. Performs specialized technical payroll calculations involving gross pay, retirement, taxes, contract calculation, retroactive pay, fringe benefits and leave records. Manages and maintains documentation regarding garnishment deductions and payment activities as they relate to payroll. Maintains benefit spreadsheets and reconciles to monthly invoices to ensure employee deductions are accurate and works with Accounts Payable to process vendor payments. Answers all inquiries and provides information; researches and resolves payroll and benefit problems and discrepancies. Works directly with Human Resources to confirm payroll related information and determine deductions and benefits (as needed). Prepares deposits for payroll (direct deposit, voluntary retirement contributions, Federal and FICA taxes, and SECU payroll deductions). Prepares payroll journal entries for input into Colleague such as payroll related journal entries for year-end including accumulated vacation leave and accrued salaries. Checks monthly time sheets for non-exempt salaried employees and track compensatory time. Reviews and analyzes all payroll data for accuracy; calculates earnings and enters the payroll data into Colleague; updates payroll data as needed to ensure accurate processing. Process and prepare payroll checks and direct deposit advices and all related monthly payroll reports. Responsible for quarterly payroll tax (Federal 941 and NC Withholding), quarterly unemployment records and reports, W-2 processing, and being the primary contact for payroll tax exceptions. Responsible for surveys, all payroll reporting to NCCCS, variety of governmental agencies, and other organizations, and other financial related reports including but not limited to longevity, annual leave rollover and compensated absences. Ensures compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies. Assists the VP of Finance and Administrative Service in all aspects budget and payroll procedures and processes to best benefit the College’s efficiency. Works directly with Human Resources during open enrollment to ensure that all benefit/deduction changes are updated in Colleague and all changes are reviewed for accuracy. Prepare and submit annual leave accruals, deferred compensation, and retirement contributions to the NC Office of State Auditors. Serves on institutional committees as appointed. Essential Duties: Supervises and directs the work of staff positions to ensure the goals, objectives, and needs of the College are met. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual balancing, reconciling, and reporting for state, county, and institutional funds. Prepares reimbursement requests monthly (i.e. grants, capital projects). Maintains the general accounting system for the College in accordance with NC Community College System accounting procedures and insures changes are compatible with state accounting system. Prepares monthly journal entries as needed and authorized by the Vice President of Finance & Administrative Services. Manages year-end closing processes necessary to timely and accurately prepare external reports such as Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Single Audit Reporting, Foundation Conversion Template, Formal Financial Statements, Formal Notes to the Financial Statements, and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and any other financial documents within prescribed deadlines. Oversees the process of providing President, Vice President of Finance & Administrative Services, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President of Student Development, and Division and Department Heads monthly reports of expenditures. Requests funds from state, county and federal to cover expenses and monitor cash balances in all funds. Approves disbursement of college funds after verification of cash availability. Monitors or reviews accounting transactions using a wide range of accounting knowledge to assure compliance with applicable state and federal laws as well as with the State Board of Community College Code, the North Carolina Community College System Accounting Procedures Manual, the College's Accounting Procedures, and Wilson Community College’s Policies and Procedures Manual. Establishes fund accounts and ensures bank deposits are verified and correctly deposited. Ensures all funds belonging to or allocated to the College are in balance and all financial payments and receipts are accurately documented in the appropriate ledgers and journals. Reviews and approves monthly bank statement reconciliations and monitors daily cash balances in the state disbursing account and county and institutional bank accounts. Oversees and assists with preparing reports for the WCC Board of Trustees’ Finance Committee and Board of Trustees. Assists Vice President of Finance & Administrative Services in the preparation and control of budgets and prepare budget transfers, analyzing data, designing worksheets, generating reports, developing processes, and accounting system changes/modifications as needed. Evaluates workflows across the division for potential improvements and efficiencies. Manages interdepartmental schedules and calendars for the Virtual Medical Center (VMC). Orders and maintains inventory of lab supplies and instructional materials for the VMC to meet program and course objectives. Manages and operates the VMC including performing hardware and software upgrades, ensuring the security of equipment, troubleshooting equipment failure, consulting for technical support, repairing simulation equipment per manufacturers specifications, overseeing scheduled maintenance, and recommending equipment purchases to Dean. Completes and maintains accurate student grades, attendance, and performance records. Updates, communicates, and follows course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance. Educates and trains departmental faculty on professional and technical processes related to simulation and labs. Participates in professional development.
