Job Description: Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, performs routine unskilled manual work in building cleaning and maintenance.
Qualifications: Knowledge of methods and techniques applied in custodial work. Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings. Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned work. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and respond courteously to faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
Essential Duties: Operates large industrial vacuum over large areas, mops and sweeps. Cleans restrooms, fixtures, mirrors, chrome, and stocks restrooms with paper products, such as towels and tissue, and soap. Cleans kitchens including refrigerators, ovens, ranges, and other kitchen appliances, art laboratories, chemical laboratories, various trade shops and other specialized areas where paint, grease, food, and other materials may require special efforts of handling. Sorts trash for recycling. Dusts office furniture, window seals, empties trash, and cleans windows. Cleans chalkboards and empties pencil sharpeners. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of custodial experience required.
