Emergency Medical Services

EMS programs are designed to provide initial, continuing education, and re-credential training in the Emergency Medical Services field. Initial courses are provided to prepare individuals to earn their EMS credentials. Continuing education courses are offered each semester on the college campus or at area agencies enabling current EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic credential to maintain their State of North Carolina or National Registry Credentials.

The AEMT program meets or exceeds NCOEMS and NR Standards. Successful completion of the AEMT Program will prepare you for entry level upon completion of your program. Students will be trained in skills and medications approved by the State of NC. The program includes didactic, field internship, and clinical internship. This course follows guidelines established by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS). Curriculum for the AEMT educational program shall be objectives identified from the National Standard Curriculum. Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible to take the State certification exam or National Registry exam.

Advanced EMT Program Outcome

To prepare AEMT Professionals who are competent entry-level professionals in cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills/hands on), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the Emergency Medical Services Career field.

Advanced EMT Statement of Accreditation

The WILSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE AEMT program has been issued a Letter of Review by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). This letter is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, it is a status signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self-Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. The Letter of Review NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.

Paramedic Program Outcome

To prepare PARAMEDIC Professionals who are competent entry-level professionals in cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills/hands on), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the Emergency Medical Services Career field.

Paramedic Statement of Accreditation

The WILSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE Paramedic program has been issued a Letter of Review by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). This letter is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, it is a status signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self-Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the National Registry's Paramedic credentialing examination(s). However, it is NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.
