Direct PLUS Loan for the Parent Borrower
An interested Parent would need to:
- Complete the Direct PLUS Loan Data Form and return to the Financial Aid office by email to: [email protected], fax: 252-246-1384, US Mail or hand deliver to F105B. This notifies the Loan Officer that the parent has applied for the Direct PLUS loan and provides other important information.
- Sign into www.studentloans.gov and, under Parent Borrowers, select Request a PLUS Loan. If approved, the parent will then need to complete the Direct PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note online at www.studentloans.gov.
- If the parent is deemed by the Department of Education to have adverse credit history, the parent will also have to complete PLUS Counseling on www.studentloans.gov and secure an acceptable Endorser.
Note: The parent must be the student’s biological or adoptive Mother or Father and the student is counted in the parent’s household size on the FAFSA.
Once all of the above items have been received and verified, the Loan Officer will contact the parent via the email or phone number provided on the Direct PLUS Loan Data Form to discuss loan findings and further steps.
