hi i'm trish Holsten secondary partnership director at Wilson Community College. We're on our third video of the series and in this particular video we're going to be focusing on the college policies. Let's begin with the attendance policy, followed by the academic dishonesty policy. The attendance policy for the college is that students cannot miss more than 15% of class or they will be dropped. Attendance is taken both in face-to-face classes and on and in online classes. Online participation is based on participation as the instructor outlines what participation is on the course syllabus and/or in Moodle. For example, attendance in an online class may include completing assignments or simply completing and watching lessons or participating by perhaps posting to a forum-- either way, if you do not do what is considered participation for that week, you are considered absent, and after a certain number of absences, you'll be dropped from the course. Please remember that your CCP course should be considered a priority and that missing class always counts as an absence. We do not have excused absences at the college so any reason for missing class will go down as an absence and as long as you've not missed more than 15% of class. That shouldn't be a problem as with any kind of course though you should always talk to the instructor or make the instructor aware if you cannot attend class or if you have been hospitalized or have a sickness or anything that impedes with your ability to do work or participate in class, he instructor should be a made aware of that-- do not assume that you would be able to make up assignment simply because you miss class. A second college policy is the academic dishonesty policy where students are expected, of course, to perform honestly and they are subject to disciplinary action for violating this policy if you're not sure what academic dishonesty is please make sure that you go to our online catalog and look up not just the dishonesty policy, but all the college policies and procedures as students will have to adhere to any of these policies that are posted in our college catalog To give you some examples of academic honesty obviously cheating lying plagiarism are all forms of academic misconduct you shouldn't copy anybody else's work, any projects or papers, you do should be your own. You should not give or receive help from anybody else, you should not copy anybody's work, exam, test--you should not use your cell phones to complete work unless it is unless it is agreed upon by the instructor-- that is especially true in any kind of testing situation unless the instructor has outlined that it is okay to use electronic devices-- those should never be used for any situation as I mentioned before it's extremely important to look at our catalog to look at any of the college policies. And again, remember, my contact information phone number and email address are certainly all forms and ways that you can contact me if you need any help. Please remember to watch the rest of the videos as there are a few more in this series.
