Wilson Academy of Applied Technology (WAAT) is a rigorous early college high school built through a strategic partnership between Wilson County Schools, Wilson Community College, and regional industry leaders. WAAT provides students with an accelerated academic experience that seamlessly integrates high school and transferable college coursework within a focused, learner-centered environment.
Students engage in challenging honors-level and college classes that cultivate critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and scholarly independence. Through dual enrollment opportunities, students graduate with a two-year college degree, positioning them for success at four-year universities, in competitive degree programs, in the workforce, or in military service.
Distinctively, WAAT unites academic excellence with purposeful application. Internships, technical labs, research-based projects, guest speakers, and industry partnerships allow students to connect theory to real-world problem solving. This intentional blend of rigor and relevance prepares graduates not only to continue their education, but to lead confidently and adapt successfully in a dynamic 21st-century economy.
At WAAT, students do not have to choose between college preparation and career readiness—they graduate prepared for both.
