Wilson Community College is proud to announce that Khalik Weaver has been selected as a 2026 recipient of the Samuel M. Taylor Memorial Life Sciences Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship supporting North Carolina community college students pursuing careers in the life sciences industry.
Khalik was selected from a strong pool of 14 qualified applicants representing community colleges across North Carolina. Six students were selected to receive the scholarship this year.
Established in memory of Samuel M. Taylor, longtime president of NCLifeSci, the scholarship recognizes promising community college students preparing for careers in North Carolina’s growing life sciences industry.
As a scholarship recipient, Khalik will receive $2,250 for the 2026-2027 academic year. Scholarship funds may be used toward tuition, fees, and books, helping reduce the financial barriers associated with pursuing a college education.
Khalik is currently enrolled in Biotechnology at Wilson Community College and plans to pursue a career in the field of biotechnology.
The scholarship is available to North Carolina residents attending community colleges and enrolled in eligible life sciences-related programs, including Clinical Research Associate, Facility Maintenance Technology, Biotechnology – Bioanalytical Laboratory Technology, and Biotechnology – Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology.
