WCC Scholarship Frequently Asked Questions

Wilson Community College Foundation scholarships are made possible through the generous gift of our individual, civic, and corporate donors.

WCC Scholarship applications are accepted between July and August each year. Check the Scholarship webpage for application deadlines. Students are also emailed to notify them when the application period opens.

All currently-enrolled part-time and full-time students can apply for scholarships.

No. There is a general application, although each scholarship has its own criteria. By submitting one application, students are considered for all scholarships where you meet the criteria.

No. However, to be considered for scholarships that are need-based, you must complete the FAFSA.

Yes. Some scholarships are solely based on financial need.

Applicants must be currently enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours to receive a scholarship. There are some scholarships that require twelve (12) or more credit hours.

Scholarships range anywhere from $200 to $2,400 per year. The recipient receives half of the award in the fall, and the other half is awarded in the spring semester.

You are still eligible, as long as you apply and meet the criteria. Some students may receive multiple scholarships.

The WCC Scholarship Committee selects the recipients from the pool of applications based on the criteria of each scholarship. The criteria is set by each donor and may include one or more of the following:  demonstrated financial need, program, credits completed or currently taking, and GPA.

Letters are mailed to the scholarship recipients’ address on file in October.

Scholarships are awarded in the fall and spring semesters. Recipients and donors are invited to the annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon in November each year.
