Need help paying for your education or training? Train the East Grant provides financial assistance to eligible students participating in approved health science and skilled trades programs at Wilson Community College, including Short-Term Training programs as well as Degree and Diploma programs.
Eligible students may receive up to $1,500 per semester toward an approved course or program.
For Degree and Diploma programs students must be enrolled at Wilson Community College and have a completed FAFSA on file to be eligible. Visit Train the East Grant Application to apply.

Requirements/Application Process
Students Must:
- Degree and Diploma programs students must be enrolled at Wilson Community College and have a completed FAFSA on file to be eligible.
- Complete the Train the East Grant Application
Responsibilities
- All Success Advisors/FA Advisors can work with students and make referrals
- Program Administrator- Handles both program/application administration and participant support (Ta’Myra Freeman)
- Business Office- Details in Colleague in student’s account
- Foundation Office- Reimburse Business Office sometime in the semester
Funding
- The total grant for 2026-2027 is $125,000.00
- Funds are approved on a first come, first serve basis until all funds have been spent
- The maximum funds per semester any one student shall receive is $1,500.00
- Not all students or programs will be approved
- These are “last dollar” funds
- Curriculum out-of-state students may not qualify
