This curriculum is designed to provide training for persons interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems found in residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.
Course work, most of which is hands-on, will include such topics as AC/DC theory, basic wiring practices, programmable logic controllers, industrial motor controls, applications of the National Electric Code, and other subjects as local needs require.
Graduates should qualify for a variety of jobs in the electrical field as an on-the-job trainee or apprentice assisting in the layout, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
- Construct and analyze DC and AC circuits using electrical test equipment.
- Properly select, connect, and troubleshoot motors and control circuits.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Properly install equipment and conduit associated with commercial electrical installations and industrial systems and equipment.
- Identify basic PLC systems and create simple programs.
- Construct and troubleshoot semiconductor devices for proper operation in an industrial electronic circuit.

Motor Controls Certificate (C35130M)
This certificate prepares individuals to work with electrical motors and controls as a mechanic or an electrician in the commercial or industrial environment. Students will also learn about the National Electric Code, along with basic electrical and electronic skills.
