The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs, which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential.
Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing safe, individualized care while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics.
Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities.
Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
- Implement caring interventions incorporating documented best practices for individuals in diverse settings.
- Practice professional nursing behaviors incorporating personal responsibility and accountability for continued competence.
- Incorporate informatics to formulate evidence-based clinical judgments and management decisions.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with individuals, significant support person(s), and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Manage health care for the individual using cost-effective nursing strategies, quality improvement processes, and current technology.

East Carolina University College of Nursing Partnership
ENC Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) provides students with a four-year option in which they complete an Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
The aRIBN program provides a three-year nursing option that concurrently enrolls students in a Community College and a University — where they complete both their Associate Degree in Nursing and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

The Career and College Promise (CCP) Program provides opportunities for eligible high school students to start college early, where courses can count for dual credit (credit in the high school and college at the same time), all TUITION-FREE! CCP students accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that provide entry-level job skills and/or lead to college transfer credit.
Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
