This course provides training in Nurse Aide II tasks. Emphasis is placed on the role of the Nurse Aide II, sterile technique, and specific tasks such as urinary catheterization, wound care, respiratory procedures, ostomy care, peripheral IV assistive activities, and alternative feeding methods. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and safe performance of skills necessary to be eligible for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide II Registry. (16.9 CEU)
Verification of listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry must be current at the time of registration.

Students must have one of the following to take this course:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, or
- TABE test performance with results of an 8th grade reading level, or
- If in high school, the principal’s approval.
Students must submit proof of the following:
- Immunizations (including COVID or exemptions may be granted if approved by the clinical site)
- 2-Step TB Skin Test (within 9 months of class start date) or a TB Blood Test
- Flu Shot (October-March)
- Two MMR injections or titer
- Three hepatitis vaccines or two Hepsav-B injections
- Two varicella injections or titer
- TDAP within 10 years
- A valid American Heart Association (AHA) CPR BLS certification must be completed by the first day of class.
- An online Criminal Background Check and a Drug Test are required, information will be provided on the first day of class regarding this.
NOTE: Be prepared to pay $120.00 for the background check, drug screen, and health portal. DO NOT PAY FOR THESE SCREENINGS BEFORE THE DESIGNATED TIME.
Uniforms are required starting on day one of class and are to be worn for each session in class/lecture, lab, and clinicals. Uniforms consist of a navy blue scrub top and pants, along with white socks and white leather shoes.
An Analog watch (watch with second hand) is required.
