Title IX & Discrimination Statement

Statement on Discrimination and Harassment

Wilson Community College does not discriminate or permit discrimination by any member of its community against any individual on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, familial status, veteran status, genetic information, or citizenship in matters of admission, employment, or services or in the educational programs or activities it operates.

Harassment, whether verbal, physical, or visual, that is based on any of these characteristics is a form of discrimination.  This includes harassing conduct affecting tangible job benefits, interfering unreasonably with an individual’s academic work or work performance, or creating what a reasonable person would perceive is an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.  Prohibited sex discrimination includes sexual harassment and sexual violence.

Sexual Assault, Domestic and Dating Violence, and Stalking Prevention Training

Federal law requires that colleges and universities provide sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking prevention training to all new incoming students. Wilson Community College has contracted with SafeColleges, a national leader in such training, to make this important online training available to our students.

Please use the following link to access the training: https://wilsonccstudents-nc.safecolleges.com/login

Login with the same username and password used to access Wilson CC Moodle or Student Planning. Once you access and begin the training, you can stop and start as your schedule allows. When you log back in, it will pick up where you left off.

Title IX Statement

Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in any educational program or activity operated by the College.  Sexual harassment, which includes sexual violence, is a form of sex discrimination prohibited by Title IX.  The College has designated Title IX Coordinators to coordinate the College’s compliance with and respond to inquiries concerning Title IX.

The Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (SaVE) amends the Clery Act and increases transparency on campus about incidents of sexual violence, guarantees victims enhanced rights, sets standards for disciplinary proceedings, and requires campus-wide prevention education programs. SaVE adds domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking to sexual assault crimes and also adds hate crimes based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and national origin to Clery hate crimes that must be reported.

A person may file a complaint regarding an alleged violation of Title IX by contacting the Title IX Coordinator or the Deputy Title IX Coordinator:

Contact will not automatically constitute an incident report.
