North Carolina Coastal Plain Police Academy, Inc. was established in 1967 by thirty-one law enforcement agencies in the eastern part of the state. The purpose of the training center was to provide education and training to law enforcement personnel in the area. Although the corporation still exists, over the years Wilson Community College has gradually assumed responsibility for continuing the goal of training officers throughout the region. The Coastal Plain Law Enforcement Training Center, as it is known today, is one of the oldest and most active law enforcement training providers in North Carolina.
Wilson Community College, through the Coastal Plain Law Enforcement Training Center, continues its commitment of providing quality law enforcement training to meet the needs of the law enforcement officers in the eastern region of our state. The training center is comprised of two different but combined training units to meet the growing training needs of our law enforcement community. Wilson Community College is host to a Basic Law Enforcement Training program and an In-Service Law Enforcement Training Center.

Curriculum Certificate Program
Every effort will be made to accommodate maximum participation in the courses offered but may be limited by classroom size. Registration for Law Enforcement classes must be completed three (3) business days prior to the start date of each class. Walk-in registrations will not be accepted.
Approximately three weeks prior to course starting dates, a course pre-registration form will be e-mailed to your agency with a lesson plan attachment. Agencies/students are expected to print the lesson plan and bring it to the course. When it is determined that a reserved seat will not be needed, please notify us as soon as possible so a stand-by applicant can be contacted.
Pre-registered students should report to the Coastal Plain Law Enforcement Training Center, 3997 Ward Blvd., Wilson, N.C., no later than 8:00 a.m. unless prior instructions advise otherwise. Students are expected to attend all sessions in their entirety for course credit. Late arrivals may not be permitted to join the course without prior approval from the coordinator and respective agency head.
Cancelations – Courses are subject to cancelation due to insufficient enrollment. Every effort will be made to notify agencies at least seven days in advance when a class must be canceled.
Sworn members of North Carolina criminal justice agencies are exempt* from registration fees. We request you provide us an agency contact person when placing a reservation for training. Your agency contact will assist us with course scheduling, required equipment, and verifying information in a timely manner. Training requests without an agency contact designated will need approval from coordinator prior to training. *North Carolina Statutes 115B Tuition.
The dress code is business casual unless course participation requires other specific attire. T-shirts with offensive subject matter are not allowed. Shorts are also not allowed.
